I love this -- I'm thinking and living through this now too as I shift from lots of client work on business books to my more heart-centered poetry work. For example, I did some tarot card inspired instant typewriter poetry this weekend, and it was pure play. But it was also pure play with people who are makers and doers and organizers, so I felt relaxed enough to trust it. And lo and behold, within hours of posting it, I get recommended for a podcast. One of the plus sides to trusting play (which I think of as part of the long term game) is the unexpected connections it sparks.
